I wanted to share one of my blogger posts to my Twitter account and how I did this was by having both my blog and my twitter open. I selected the post that I wanted to share and then I looked at the bottom of the post and selected the Twitter share button. It then took me to compose a twitter post and after I put in what I want my post was ready to be shared.

Here is a good blog to checkout of a friend of mine from my class. Her name is Jessica and the blog she has created which is called A Book a Day and is really helpful for anyone who is working in libraries and wants to learn about social media as well as getting some great tips on interesting books that she suggests to read. Here is the link and I hope you check it out:
A Book a Day
Libraries have approached social media in all manner of different ways, some libraries branch out over Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr and many more. Social media is a great tool for libraries to use it makes the costumes aware of times and any important dates coming up, it can also share activities that have been taking place at the library.
Here are some links I have found that connect to different libraries and their different social media accounts:
Here is the State Library of Victoria's social media page for Facebook and it contains a large amount of promotional advertisement for their current exhibitions.

Here is the Moonee Valley Library's Pinterest account, they have used this image based social media tool to great boards that include things such as 'Best 100 Reads for Young Adults' or 'Local History Collection'.

Here is the National Library of Australia's Twitter account, it is very similar to the State Library of Victoria's Facebook account with how is strongly promotes their exhibitions and important news.

Every time we upload a photo onto a social media tool we always have to be careful about what we are putting up and to make sure that we are not breaking and copyright rules. If someone breaks a copyright rule even unknowingly it can lead to them finding themselves in a lot of hot water. Here is a link that everyone should look over before they start adding photos online:
Copyright Issues for Social Media

It is also important that when we are on social media that we follow a certain etiquette and the issues that people may have with when they are not following these rules. Here is a link I found that can help people with these rules of etiquette:
Learning social media etiquette.
This site is great for tips on how to remain professional and minimise the chances of any unflattering material online. One tip they have is in reference to having yourself tagged in photos on Facebook and how you are now able to get rid of those unwanted tags that link your social media to that photograph. So check it out and you may learn some helpful stuff.
It is always important that while developing your social media identity that you are extremely careful about what you put out on the internet. I found this really good link from the Australian Government who has created this article with all information about how to be safe online and how to protect your security and also your privacy. They give tips on things such as not using the same password for your social media as your bank accounts and a lot more helping tips.

Orangutan at the Melbourne Zoo.
I took this photo a few years ago when I went to the Melbourne Zoo with my family. My favourite part of going to the zoo is always seeing the Orangutan's because they are just so beautiful. I kind of got lost listening to my music and taking photo's of them that I didn't realise that all of my family had wondered off. They eventually came back and found me but I did manage to get some photos that I liked. Out of all the images I took that day this was my favourite because the Orangutan was looking straight at me. I had to play around with it on Photoshop to eliminate some of the reflection and smudging on the window but besides that I am pretty happy how it turned out. I hope to get back to the Zoo again sometime soon and try and take some more photos of all the beautiful creatures.

The Dome at the State Library of Victoria.
I took this photograph a while ago when I was meeting up with friends in the City (Melbourne). I had some spare time so I decided to go look around the State Library and maybe that some nice photos. This ended up being one of my favourites of the amazing dome ceiling of the La Trobe Reading Room. What I liked so much about this photograph is that the black and white filter along with the adjusted contrast settings gives real striking solid lines of the architecture which is what I liked so much about the dome itself. I only took this on my phone but I might go back and retake the photo on my good camera.

Hello to anyone out there who has stumbled across this blog.
Here is the basic insight on the type of person I am, which may help you through my blog. My name is Sophie and I am currently 19 years old and I have been wanting to make a blog for a long time, however I have never taken the time to sit down and actually start one until now. I am doing this for a class in my Diploma of Library and Information Services where we explore social media tools, but I think I might keep this blog going on even after the class as finished. I am not completely sure what this blog will entail at this moment, possibly relevant things to my class at the moment however I would also like to share my passions with anyone who finds this blog. This may come in a range of forms such as photography, books, movies, story ideas, anything I discover and the list could go on.
I hope that if someone takes the time to look at this blog they will find something that they like or at least make them smile. If anything that is all that I can ask for, I hope to blog something soon and have a great day.
Sophie.
